First run yesterday in what, 3 weeks!????

Ack. Finally went for a run after being sick for 2 1/2 weeks. Good news: my legs felt fine and I was able to (albeit very slowly) run a goodly distance (about the same as before) before wanting my walk break. Bad news: my chest ached on deep inspiration (not expiration) almost the whole time (remnants I'm sure of the bronchitis), I felt a little lightheaded (granted, it was a sunny, bright mid-day run), and I was tired most of the day after. And of course my calves and butt are a little sore today.

Oh, yeah. The Chesebro Half is this coming weekend. Right. I may switch to the 5 or 10k. I didn't think I could feel LESS prepared than I did for the Carlsbad Half.

Flu

I've been sick the past week and a half, worst being the tail end of last week, when I was feverish as well as weak and coughing etc. I still feel weak, and dizzy if I get up too fast, but I'm much better, now that I'm loaded up on more antibiotics, Tamiflu, etc.

The last time I did any sort of running, workout etc was running with Mel February 3rd. It was a particularly sucky run and the first hint that I wasn't well. Mel asked, with concern, midway through the run, if I was okay, because we'd NEVER run so slowly before. Huh. Didn't feel slow to me. I had to walk partway up our finishing hill as well.

I don't know when I'll be feeling up to working out. Luckily my work schedule's been light this month so I can rest today, though I do have to work tomorrow.

And of course there's all the frustration that the clock is ticking, days are passing, and that means I'm closer to various events with less training than I anticipated.
